Jenn’s Story

Being a classically trained studio dancer in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop, dancing and choreographing was something that was just in my blood. And I ended up being pretty darn good 🙂 Dancing 6 days a week for 3 to 4 hours a day at a studio was normal life to me. I danced on scholarship at the University of Washington and the University of California Los Angeles. Not only was I college cheerleader but I was a choreographer for various dance studios in Los Angeles, dance teams and a choreographer for several halftime shows at major sporting events. I even had the opportunity to teach and train several celebrities to dance which of course they got in crazy awesome shape while working with me.

Fast forward 20 years through a successful corporate career that took the lead in front of my dance career I found myself in my late thirties as a mother of 2 small children and out of shape. It was time to get back into the groove though the problem was I didn’t exactly like traditional gym workouts. You know those ones that make you yank ropes that are big enough to tie a cruise ship to a dock? Or jump on top of a box that comes up to your waist!! I think you see where I’m gong here. Not only was that NOT fun, didn’t give me the body results I desired, but it also hurt my body and not in a good way – I mean come on! I was a 38 year old women, not an 18 year old college athlete! I also had no interest in wasting my time doing workouts I didn’t enjoy and wasn’t getting results from either. A dilemma . . .

It was only when a few of my former “dance student” clients reached out to me and said, “I need to get back into shape like I was in when you taught me how to dance.” Alas! The idea and opportunity presented itself. Why not take easy to follow but bold, “hot” dance movement and mash it up with some easy to follow athletic movements. Make it repeatable and FUN. That’s when Danz Insanity® was born.
